The First European To Explore The Coastline of South Africa

The Portuguese mariner, Bartolomeu Dias, was the first European to explore the coastline of South Africa in 1488, which showed there was a viable way to reach India. Vasco Da Gama rounded the Cape again on the 22nd november 1497 and reached calicut in 1498.
