The City of Johannesburg’s vision of Braamfontein as a creative and entrepreneurial hub is still under construction but so far so good.

Johannesburg’s 4th-largest office node has become a commercial, retail, residential and academic zone, as well as connected mixed-use district that has helped demolish urban decay in the inner city. And also made the area more welcoming to businesses and families.
Over 50 000 people work in Braamfontein, 25 000+ get to call it home while 30 000 students pass through it weekdays on their way to and from higher institutions of learning.
Much of this success can be attributed to partnerships between the Johannesburg Development Agency(JDA) and businesses on various initiatives, such as the Braamfontein Improvement District(BID).
The BID for was created in 2004 with the intention of encompassing the corporate zone in Braamfontein, whereby the BID provides security and cleaning services in public spaces and streets.
