R2.5 Billion Affordable Lifestyle Estate To Be Developed Near Carnival City Casino

Sun International is set to launch a R2.5-billion lifestyle estate alongside two partners next to its Carnival City precinct. This move will bring the largest mixed-use development in the East Rand in more than 20 years.

When completed over the next coming 5 to 7 years, the development will consist of residential units, retail facilities, offices, a 10 000m2 neighbourhood market, volleyball court, swimming pool, as well as school and parks. On top of that, the estate will also have solar facilities and strong security features.

The project site lies on 50 hacters of vacant land owned by Carnival City, in which Sun International owns a 90% shareholding interest.

The 5 separate residential estates will be launched in phases with a central park linking them along with other green belts for people to walk their pets.

500+ units will be offered at a starting price of just R499 000 wheres properties at the top end will come in at R1.2 million.

Development work will start in June 2024 if pre-sales targets are met in March. It is being developed by LivRES, a partnership between Profica, Tristar and Sun International.

According to Alan Dinnie, LivRES development director, the estate was “easily” the biggest mixed-use development on the East Rand in more than 20 years.
